to Alaska via airlines, caribou hunters from western
and central USA will normally have to stop over
in Seattle, Portland or Calgary, Canada. Alaska
Airlines also provide flights from New York and
Washington in the east.

either to Goose Bay or Wabush depending on the
outfitter preference and location. The general
airline routes would be through Montreal, Quebec
or Halifax, Nova Scotia. There are also flights
from Deer Lake, Newfoundland into Goose Bay and
Wabush on a daily basis.

Travelling
to Newfoundland Canada, hunters from northeastern
USA have only a short driving distance to North
Sydney, Nova Scotia. From here they can board
a car ferry to Port au Basque or Argentia and
follow the Trans Canada Highway to their destination.
If hunters decide to fly, there are regular daily
flights to Deer Lake, Stephenville and Gander.
These flights are usually from Toronto, Halifax
or Montreal.

approximately 800 kms to Thompson. There are outfitters
that operate from Thompson while others operate
